The Summers Past Method

Curiosity is where
the story begins.

Family history isn't about making names fit a tree. It's about asking careful questions, reading the records closely, and being honest about what they can—and cannot—tell us.

01

Start with your question

We define a focused goal and take stock of the stories, documents, and research you already have.

02

Follow the evidence

We examine historical sources, compare competing explanations, and document where the information came from.

03

Tell the honest story

You receive a clear account of the findings, the uncertainties, and the best next steps—even if the mystery remains open.

Meet your researcher

Hi, I'm Aubree.

My love for genealogy started as a little dream—and grew into something much bigger when I began researching my own family while writing a novel.

One question led to another. Soon I was studying census records, contacting archives, deciphering nineteenth-century handwriting, and discovering just how much joy there is in following a mystery wherever the evidence leads.

I'm building Summers Past Genealogy around that same curiosity, with a commitment to continuing education, careful documentation, and treating every family's story with respect.

  • A lifelong love of history, stories, and the people behind them
  • Thoughtful, evidence-first research—not assumptions
  • Warm communication and respect for personal histories

The curious case
of Martha Harris.

Private practice case · Ongoing investigation

What began as a question about an 1821 Indiana marriage turned into a search through original registers, census records, Revolutionary War pension papers, and probate books.

The proposed identity of Martha's parents remains unproven—and that's part of the story. Responsible genealogy means recognizing the difference between a promising lead and a documented conclusion.

A few good questions

Before we begin

Good family-history research starts with clarity, trust, and realistic expectations.

Can you guarantee you'll find my ancestor?

No. Genealogical sources may be missing, contradictory, or inaccessible. The value lies in careful research and a documented explanation of what was found, what was ruled out, and what may be possible next.

What if I already have a family tree?

That's a wonderful starting point. Existing trees, documents, and family stories help focus the research. Each relationship still needs to be evaluated against its underlying evidence.

Are record-copying fees included?

Not automatically. Our proposed approach is to seek your approval before any additional expense for certificates, archives, document scans, or subscriptions specific to a case.

Will you keep my family's information private?

Privacy is central to the practice we're building. Living people's information, sensitive family discoveries, and genetic data require particular care. Any future client agreement will explain exactly how records are used, stored, and shared.

Are you taking clients right now?

Not yet. Summers Past Genealogy is in development. This site is a preview of the services and approach we're preparing, not a live booking or payment portal.

Your next chapter

There's a story
worth finding.

A name you've always wondered about. A mysterious marriage. A branch of the tree nobody can quite explain. Every family has questions, and we'd love to help you prepare yours.
